Catching the Charm: A Mother’s Day Escape to Charleston, SC

Downtown Charleston

Treat your mom to a great Mother’s Day weekend in beautiful Charleston, SC.  Charleston, SC is known for its rich history, stunning architecture, and vibrant culture. Visitors can enjoy exploring historic sites, dining at renowned restaurants, and taking in the city's beautiful scenery.  Here's a Mother's Day weekend getaway itinerary I would recommend:

Where To Stay:

For a luxury hotel stay in Charleston, I recommend The Dewberry. This hotel has a prime location in the heart of the city and boasts a sophisticated, retro design. The rooms are spacious and well-appointed, and the hotel amenities include a rooftop bar, a fitness center, and a spa.

Friday:

Hit the road early to enjoy all that Charleston has to offer.  After checking into The Dewberry, take a stroll down King Street for some shopping and sightseeing. Stop by the Charleston City Market to browse local crafts and souvenirs. For lunch, head to Leon's Oyster Shop, a casual seafood spot with a charming outdoor patio.

In the afternoon, take a historic walking tour of the city to learn about Charleston's rich history and architecture. Some popular tour companies include Bulldog Tours and Palmetto Carriage Works.

For dinner, make a reservation at Husk, a beloved Charleston restaurant that serves Southern-inspired cuisine made with local ingredients.

Saturday:

Start the day off with brunch at The Park & Grove, a charming eatery known for its delicious coffee and fresh, seasonal fare.

After brunch, take a short drive to Middleton Place, a historic plantation with beautiful gardens and a museum. You can spend a few hours exploring the grounds and learning about the history of the plantation.

In the evening, head back to the city and enjoy a sunset harbor cruise with Charleston Harbor Tours. After the cruise, head to FIG for dinner, a farm-to-table restaurant that's known for its excellent wine selection.

Sunday:

On the last day of your trip, head to the famous Magnolia Plantation and Gardens for a morning of exploring. This stunning plantation has been around since the 1600s and has beautiful gardens, a nature center, and a petting zoo.

For lunch, head to The Obstinate Daughter on Sullivan's Island. This restaurant has a beachy vibe and serves delicious Italian-inspired cuisine.

After lunch, head back to the city to explore the shops and galleries on Broad Street. For a sweet treat, stop by Christophe Artisan Chocolatier-Patissier for some handcrafted chocolates.
